AIRE Air Mask Charger — A Breathable Charger Concept
João Paulo Lammoglia, a designer from Rio de Janeiro have come up with a concept of a charger that’s powered by human breath. As the name suggests, the user would wear the charger as a mask as shown, and the device would charge whenever the wearer breaths.
The proposed design would have miniaturized wind-turbines in the AIRE mask unit that would convert energy from every breath to charge a device. So technically, your lungs would be powering your phone or any other devices.
This is a clever design that is more applicable when the user is performing an intense physical activity like a regular workout or running session. If such a device exists, it would reduce carbon footprints from traditional charging a bit.
In addition to that, this could potentially motivate couch potatoes to do some actual work at least once, in a desperation to charge a device when there is no other power source available.
Harnessing energy from human activities is a domain that still needs an efficient solution. Concepts and designs like AIRE Mask, gives the right motivation for exploration.
