Hey! :) Welcome back. Thanks.

Welcome to Curiosity, @ananth! :D Excited to have you here! :) The twitter sharing link for Blip is available at the content bottom area along with facebook.

Avatar

That sounds good. Let’s think about this when there are enough active users. :)

Avatar

Yeah, thought about it too. But I think this layout fits best for Geekswipe. Worth noting that Curiosity is sharing the same stylesheet from the forked theme. It also helps to distinguish between the two mediums.

How did I miss this? Too late to the party anyway! But this is worth sharing here.

The above answer would only disable the real-time monitoring part of Windows Defender. If you want to disable the service entirely, go here HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WinDefend and change the value of Start to 4. This will disable the service, while changing the value to 3 will change it to manual start. I hope you are aware of the risks involved in disabling it.

How about grep? Pipe it with cat and you can get the log based on your timestamp. I often use sudo cat access.log | grep "<timestamp>" when looking up events. For advanced filtering, have a handy dump of regex expressions that you can use with grep. Grep regex documentation should help you.

Try GUI log viewers like Apache chainsaw or AWStats.

Thanks for reporting. :) It’s a known issue that I’ve been trying to figure out for a week now. Will fix it as soon as possible.

UPDATE – It’s fixed now.

Hey @rontap, I just saw this. Don’t know how I forgot to reply you. :) Sorry for the delay anyway! I appreciate your help here and it’s so nice of you to offer help on the Discourse front. However, I don’t really have the resources to use Discourse in the long term. BBPress is doing quite better than expected. Whatever you feel about the forum, please do let me know and I will see what I can do about it. I see that you are a frequent member here, and that makes your feedback and insights more valuable. :)

Avatar

Out of curiosity, are we giving up on this forum?

Umm No! Working on a new product @ swyde. We’ll still answer questions here. :)

More detailed images are here now. Here is an enhanced version of the image showing the bright spots in much higher definition.

Trust me on this! :) You’ll have a great time!

Right up my alley! The truth is, you CAN recall your dreams better, once when you start recording your dreams. I know it’s a bit weird to start it… But, when you put effort and start recording it, you WILL remember your dreams eventually. Check out this article.

You mean ‘how do they exist in neutron stars without decaying?’ If yes, the answer is gravity! Gravity makes it impossible for all those neutrons to decay into protons and electrons. Think of the neutron star as a big nucleus of an element. When enough neutrons decay into electrons and protons, Pauli’s exclusion principle disallows any further states of the electrons, protons or neutrons. This makes weird stuffs to the neutrons in the neutron star, forming the degenerate neutron gas. Further decay and their ‘existence’ is preserved by the pressure created under the exclusion principle, called as neutron degeneracy pressure.

Thank you for the suggestion CC. I had already thought about that and only after analyzing several stuffs, I decided to settle with BBpress. One, it’s lightweight and shares WP core as you mentioned. It also shares the WP userbase, under one roof. Maintenance is quite easy in a way. Besides, Discourse uses a lot of resources, which I can’t afford yet. It’s pretty neat and modern, but 1GB of RAM is way too pricey to have. So in the end, BBpress wins in several scenarios.

@CoolnClever, Soccer == Football, American football == Rugby… You know what else is weird? Imperial Units! :P Don’t blame the Brits here! They changed a long time ago!

Hi @Marshlow, Welcome to Geekswipe. I have read about these effects too, but not that deep. I hope you will find your answers soon enough. I have a quick question about your g-force figures. 100 G is way too much even for a football heading! Could you please link us the source?

Spot on! :)

Edit: Hey @SharpLuke, if you are still interested, here are some more info about this – Uncertainty Principle and Atomic Nucleus.

Avatar

Welcome to Geekswipe SharpLuke.

Yes, all atoms are supposed to have protons and neutrons together in their nucleus, except for hydrogen. After the big bang, the universe was filled with only the primordial nucleons consisting of protons and neutrons. Lucky for protons, the free neutrons were unstable as they decayed into protons mostly. So all that was left to form into a nucleus was the proton itself on its own. When electrons and protons mutually attracted each other, they formed the hydrogen atom. So it simply is that the hydrogen atom (protium) didn’t need a neutron. But when they fused to form helium and other heavier elements, things got interesting as the neutrons served the purpose of holding multiple protons by overcoming the mutual repulsion of the protons with the combined strong nuclear force of neutrons themselves. If you are still wondering, there are hydrogen isotopes with neutrons in it too. Deuterium and Tritium. Worth exploring, if this is your first time getting to know these stuff.

Welcome to Curiosity @vishnu. For a beginner, it’s obvious that you will find it hard to compose your subjects inside a frame. Indeed, the composition part is usually the biggest variable for any shots. Most of the times, I use the rule of thirds, as it draws attention quicker (and aids as a visual guide for leveling). Ultimately, you will realize that any rule is good! If the subject is captivating, all you need is to capture it in the most beautiful way in which your mind tells you to. Consider that the rule of thirds, the phi rule (golden ratio) and other rules are there as helpers or as guidelines. They are not actually rules per se. The best way to learn photography is by experimenting stuffs. :) Good luck.

Of course, there could be more. However, heavier elements are so rare (unstable) to exist in nature. In the future, if we find more elements, then there would be an eighth row.

Avatar

Add Bees to this list too. A study shows that they might have a powerful magnetoreception in low-frequency ranges (10 Hz). It’s a beautiful orchestration of senses, isn’t it? :)

Avatar

I think it’s because of their evolutionary traits. Birds and animals could have been more sensitive to disasters in the olden times, passing those escape responses genetically. Combined with their broad hearing ranges and magnetoreception, it is plausible that certain animals and birds can sense disasters prior to the events.

In addition to infants, this is bad for anyone in a microgravity environment too. At ISS, astronauts usually sleep next to ventilation fans to avoid oxygen starvation. As mentioned here, sleeping in a poorly ventilated space will result in sleeping under the CO2 bubble. Eventually, when they start to gasp for air, they had to wake up.
