  • Using shift + right click brings up the option to ‘open command window here’ in the context menu. Is there any other way to open the command prompt even more quickly? Like with a shortcut or some registry hack to force it to appear without the need to press shift every time?

  • Instead of using shift + right click to open a command prompt inside a directory, you can simply type cmd in the explorer’s address bar once you are in the directory.

    • Never knew this is existed. Thanks! But this opens a non elevated command prompt. Anyway to elevate it without leaving the console window?

    • The right click method opens a non-elevated command prompt too. But in either cases, windows don’t offer an easy way to elevate the command prompt quickly from inside a non elevated console. You could use the runas command to achieve it. But then you will have to use cd to get back to the working directory. The sudo equivalent in Windows don’t exist!

  • As for your original request, here is the registry option to do that. Paste it in notepad and save it as .reg. Open the file to make necessary changes in the registry.
